If you are new to boxing, you may not know exactly what you need in order to start training efficiently. Below are some pieces of boxing equipment that are ideal for those interested in training at home:

• Punching Bag

A punching bag is one of the most essential pieces of boxing equipment you invest in. You have the option of using a freestanding punching bag or a smaller hanging boxing bag. The type you choose will depend on the size of the training area in your home. A free standing bag provides the flexibility of creating a training space anywhere in your home, garage or backyard.

• Boxing Bag Stand

A bag stand is a useful for punching bag training at home.

• Boxing Gloves

The right gloves for you will largely depend on type of training you plan on doing at home. Your height and weight will also factor into the gloves you ultimately get. A bag glove is required when hitting a punching bag, while a proper boxing glove will be needed for hitting a shield or boxing pads.

When building muscle mass, the stronger you are, the weightier the glove you will need for training. Women and children need smaller boxing gloves or MMA/fingerless mitts, depending on the specific type of training.

• Boxing Headgear

To avoid injuries, a quality and comfortable headgear is important. The one you choose will depend on the size of your head and the training area. Additionally, in hot climate, an open-face headgear should be used to keep your head ventilated. In colder climates, a full-face headgear will be required to protect you from the elements.

• Boxing Hand Wraps

A quick wrap is basically a slip on hand wrap, which is ideal for beginners as it eliminates the need to know how to properly wrap your hand wrap. Hand wraps, quick wraps or cotton inners help to protect the glove from excess sweat and also extends the life of the gloves.

• Boxing Clothing

T-Shirt

A regular training t-shirt is acceptable when training at home; a moisture-wicking fabric is ideal.

Boxing Trunks

While you can use regular shorts if you wish, boxing trunks are designed specifically for boxing, and will improve your range of movement.

Boxing Shoes

For a boxer, your training will be taken to another level with a pair of boxing shoes. They are lighter than regular training shoes and enable improvement in footwork and agility.

This list of boxing equipment should give you an idea of what you need to start your training. FIGHT!
